What Recovery Actually Looks Like
After years of coaching — and my own personal journey — I've noticed that everyone who reaches the recovery stage has a few things in common. It's not about being perfect. It's about showing up in these specific ways:
- They make their mental health a priority. No matter what life throws at them, recovery stays near the top of the list, in planning and finances — not because everything else stops mattering, but because they matter.
- They show up — even imperfectly. They watch the course modules, engage in the community, and attend or rewatch group calls. Consistency beats perfection every time.
- They ask for help when they need it. They recognize when they've hit a wall and take action instead of waiting it out or quitting altogether. Sometimes the self-paced program is enough — and sometimes private 1:1 coaching is what finally breaks through the barrier.
- They accept what is. They accept that they have OCD, that recovery isn't linear, and that the tools need to become a way of life. That acceptance doesn't slow things down — it actually speeds everything up.
