What Recovery Actually Looks Like


After years of coaching — and my own personal journey — I've noticed that everyone who reaches the recovery stage has a few things in common. It's not about being perfect. It's about showing up in these specific ways:

  1. They make their mental health a priority. No matter what life throws at them, recovery stays near the top of the list, in planning and finances — not because everything else stops mattering, but because they matter.
  2. They show up — even imperfectly. They watch the course modules, engage in the community, and attend or rewatch group calls. Consistency beats perfection every time.
  3. They ask for help when they need it. They recognize when they've hit a wall and take action instead of waiting it out or quitting altogether. Sometimes the self-paced program is enough — and sometimes private 1:1 coaching is what finally breaks through the barrier.
  4. They accept what is. They accept that they have OCD, that recovery isn't linear, and that the tools need to become a way of life. That acceptance doesn't slow things down — it actually speeds everything up.
